Software that Helps Reading

I have always been a big fan of reading, but the things is that recently I did not have much time to do it. The only time that I actually might have some time to something with a book is when I am driving to work. Otherwise it is only work, in the evenings it is family and work at home and usually at that time I am too tired to do any reading at all. What I have in mind currently is that I am looking for some type of software that will be reading books to me when I am driving to work. Since it takes me approximately 35 minutes to get there, I could by that time read or rather listen to a great portion of a book. I will do some searching on the subject today and I hope to come up with some solutions. After all simply listening to the music while driving is not enough for me.

Update for Microsoft Vista

Microsoft has released its new update for Vista. There were some problems associated with the release, for example many people complained that their computer crash while the new program is installed. However Microsoft has a response already ready that can solve the problems. Microsoft had before the update revealed the list of software with which the new patch will not work. Many businesses today are reluctant to update to a new version of Vista. The main argument is that the previous software, Windows XP, works well and companies do not want to invest too much in technology that might not be needed. We will still have to wait to see how many businesses actually adopted Vista 2.0 and how many were happy about it. I am sure that all of the glitches will not live long and will be fixed shortly.

Apple Claims That New York not Entitled to the Apple

Apple, the computer electronics company is saying that New York should not use an apple as a logo for their eco-friendly campaign, since it resembles the logo of Apple. Seems like Apple wants to scare “The Big Apple” city to abandon their logo. I don’t think this will be the case and frankly speaking I think that what Apple is suggesting is ridiculous. Will soon bananas or oranges be a forbidden symbol only available for large corporations to use? Probably that would be the case, if Apple was in charge. Fortunately New York officials are not getting scared and even asked for the cancellation of what is now the symbol of Apple. In my opinion an apple is a great way to portray an eco-friendly campaign and I wish NY city luck in defending their rights.

New Skype’s Offer

Skype is planning to launch unlimited land line phones calls for $9.95 per month. The offer is going to encompass 34 countries which includes most of Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Malaysia. The offer is also going to include calls to cell phones in some of those countries. It is not the first time that Skype is selling unlimited calls. It has done it previously in the US and Canada for $3 a month. Another plan will include a new offer for Mexico for $5.95 per month. I am glad that Skype took steps in order to make calls cheaper and I am glad to observe the progress of technology in this field.

New NoScript Version: 1.5.2

NoScript is often called the king of scripts and it is a plugin for Firefox, which enables you to block JavaScript, Java, Flash and other executable contents in order to ensure the safety of browsing the web. Firefox with NoScript installed is often considered to be the most safe way to browse the internet. I can verify this myself, as I use this plugin personally. This is what this new version brings among other things:

  • New blocked objects menu to temporarily allow any blocked plugin content instance on the page.
  • Enhanced blocked content placeholders
  • Prevention of Java exploits based on malformed class names.
  • Enhanced bookmark and location bar managementI think that those features will be quite useful and will make this plugin even more desirable.
