Clean Your Computer Fans

Many people do not think about cleaning their fans on a regular basis until those fans stop working. Then it might be too late or it is time to give it some cleaning. Since your fan is spinning constantly when your PC is on, you are right to expect some dust and other things attached to it. Some of them can be even sticky. Over the years the best practice I found that worked for me was the use of compressed air. With a few movements I apply the necessary air to clean the dust from my fans. If the layer of dirt has already become thicker, I usually use a cloth to remove it completely. You can also think about installing a fan filter to help you in the maintenance of this important part of your computer.

Hackers Still a Danger?

Recently there have been some situations where judges punished hackers for their crimes and it seemed that this might convince hackers to stop dealing damage. It appears that hackers are still a threat, as hackers lately took over Comcast’s website and left a message stating that they had “RoXed” Comcast. There was some damage done since some of the 14 million subscribers still have problems accessing their web based email. Fortunately, there wasn’t any permanent damage done as far as we know, but I think that this event shows that hackers are still out there and might be even more dangerous than ever before. Some suggest that it would be a good idea to employ such individuals to protect companies from other hackers.

Some Advice on Air Conditioners

In many places in the world, it would be very difficult to live without an air conditioner. Those of us who live in warmer climates still have to work in the summer and this is why having the right air conditioning system is essential. A friend of mine tried to live without that kind of system in the southern part of the U.S and he gave up. Air conditioners are not that difficult to install and will serve you for many years to come without you having any problems with them (if installed properly). When it comes to Arizona and in particular Phoenix air conditioner installation will be conducted by professionals who know their business and they are very experienced in what they are doing since Arizona sees some very warm days, especially in the summer. I do not advise anybody to try to live without an air conditioner, especially elderly people, as this can lead to serious health problems and general discomfort. Instead, I recommend that you order professional service from a company that will deliver your air conditioning system and will install it for you. A good company will also offer a regular maintenance to make sure that everything is working properly as it should be.

Buying a New Monitor?

Monitors are an integral part of computers, as with the exception of notebooks, you need to buy a monitor for every computer. In case of notebooks you don’t have a choice what specifications your LCD screen will have, but with monitors the decision is up to you. There are two technology choice when it comes to monitors: CTR and LCD. LCD monitors are the new technology as they are slim, take a lot less space and perform very well. On the other hand CTR monitors are sometimes used by demanding gamers or graphic designers, as they have better color fidelity, viewing angles, and contrast. Even though CTR monitors have some advantages, personally I would recommend LCD monitors, not only because they are slim, but also because they are brighter and offer clearer text.

Green Cars in Japan

Japan is a highly advanced country and very often what becomes popular there, becomes popular in other parts of the world such as North American or Europe. That is why keeping a close eye on recent developments in Japan is a wise choice, especially for those interested in technology. One of the recent trends which are emerging is the increased popularity of green cars. Japan understands the problems associated with regular vehicles and they are trying to implement more eco-friendly cars such as powered hybrids, electric cars, and fuel-cell. Hybrid cars may be especially popular and I believe that the Western world will also benefit from more eco-friendly cars, but it might be a little bit later in the future.

Adjusting System Volume

Almost everyone knows how to adjust the volume on their computer, but that is usually done by adjusting the volume on the speakers. What fs you set the volume on your speakers to the loudest possible, but still can’t hear loud enough? If that is the case, then you should adjust the system volume on your machine. This can be done by adjusting the global volume in Windows XP. Follow the steps below:

  • Go to the task bar and look for the little gray speaker symbol on the right side. Click on it.
  • If you don’t see it, click on the small arrow pointing left to reveal the speaker symbol.
  • Adjust the sound level by dragging your mouse over the volume levels. You can change the general volume or specific type, like CD volume.

Collaborate With Others By Using Grou.ps

Grou.ps is a service which promises to deliver all of the collaboration tools you may need, in one place. You can run of the tools just by using a single login, instead of going to different websites to use specific a specific collaboration tool. Grou.ps supports wikis, photos, links, blogs, calendars, chat, forums, maps, profiles, subgroups and you have to admit that it is a quite long list. They also allow modules by which users can pull in their data from other third party services such as Flickr, Digg or blogs. Let’s hope that there will be more sites like this coming out in the future, as they are quite useful in many circumstances.

    Popularity of eBay

Many people are still careful while purchasing items on the Internet and many of them even decided not to do so as an unreliable way to obtain things. I am not definitely one of them. I have been using eBay for a few years now and have never been cheated out of my money. I know that there are some other auction houses on the internet where a person can possibly get cheated, but as far as I know and as far as I experienced it, eBay is a very safe place to buy. Why? Because a seller has only one chance per life to sell his items on eBay. If he fails because he wanted to cheat once, it will be noticed and he will be punished by receiving a negative feedback. People will lose interest in his products. You do not get a second chance on eBay so it is better to play safely. Once banned means banned forever. Each eBay account is carefully verified and there are steps take to prevent a person from creating two accounts with different names.

    Parking Space and Technology

Looking for a parking space is never easy in large cities and the outcome is that people waste valuable time looking for a place to park. Fortunately, technology may help us in this challenge, as magnetometers are able to detect whether a car is parked near it. Those magnetometers would be connected to a network, which would mean that drivers would be able to find parking space by accessing their phone, as they would have a sort of map which would let them know which parking spaces are not taken. The idea is great and it is going to be implemented in some cities in United States. However, I don’t think that this will reduce traffic congestion, as it will make driving a car even more desirable.

Gas Prices Vary Across the US

Even though everybody noticed the prices of gas skyrocketing across the United States, there is still the tendency that shows the gas prices to be cheaper in some parts of the US than others. In short, the prices that you pay for your gas might depend on the state you live in on travel to. If you are planning on traveling around Us this summer, you might want to take advantage of the fact that the prices vary among different states. The most expensive gas you will have to purchase in California, Oregon and Washington whereas gas is the cheapest in the south east of the United States like Louisiana or Kentucky with the exception of Southern Florida. There are sites on the internet where you can check the prices of gas in different states. Go and try to look for them and locate them.
